Fun fact: one of the tracks for Homestuck (it's in album five) seems to serve as a prototype of the musical track used in DR chapter 1 when Ralsei is relating "The Legend". The track in question? "Lotus Land Story". And the track was _also_ made by Toby Fox himself. And given your aware of Greek Mythos, your mind probably just jumped to the good old "Land of the Lotus Eaters" story, from the Illiad/Odyssey. Seriously, I'm surprised nobody else has picked up on this and been talking about it. Not to mention, there's _another_ track by Toby in album five, simply called "Lotus", which serves as a baseline for one or two of the major leitmotifs we see scattered most commonly across Undertale. Dude's been working on stuff leading up to UT and DR for _years_ now.

With the tests from this channel I got the role “Muse of Hope”. This is fair. I help people maintain hope and have saved 2 lives in this way, getting them to maintain hope and not give up on life. Those who have hope will not give up on the idea of hope upon hearing these perspectives. The action of hope is in persistence and perseverance not in sharp moments (it is the opposite of doom in this way) without doom you have hope, without hope you have doom.

Y'know I gotta admit, hearing how you explained the Rage aspect finally explains why I actually tend to refer to alot of my life as a "Play" more often than not. Between feeling the need to play the role of a Referee between friends or family members, taking on roles as needed to try and make the world work somehow, and even considering most of what I do an "Act" to keep the peace in my own life, it suddenly makes sense that, as a Mage of Rage, my aspect is meant to be about what you can make the world or yourself feel through your control of it. It's fascinating!

My interest is piqued with this, but what exactly ARE aspects? Do they work like Pokemon typings? Does everybody have all aspects but one just shines the most for certain characters? What “power” is being discussed? I’m doing all the research I can and I’m at a loss

Perhaps the so dangerous psychic powers that Limebloods had was something related empathy, both in the manner of sensing others' emotions and communing with them. A power that relates to emotional communion might lead to unity and comradery between the oppressed, which is fertile ground to revolution, like both the Signless' and the Summoner's social upheavals on crack.

My take on the Hope vs Rage duality: Hope vs Rage = Eros vs Thanatos / Construction vs Deconstruction / Attraction vs Revulsion / Desire and Joy vs Anger, Fear and Disgust / Yes vs No / Seduction vs Provocation / Sex vs Violence As elements of narrative, Hope vs Rage relates to the emotions and responses inside (character) and outside (audience). Hope to characters is what drives them forward and motivates them, it is everything they want to obtain or seek to preserve. Rage to characters is everything they dread and hate, triggering responses of flight or fight. Where Hope draws you in and invites you to embrace it, Rage provokes and goads you into violence. To audiences, Hope is related to overall enjoyment of a story, be it by feeling immersed or simply entertained. It is also related to hype, the yearning for more content, and fan-service, when the story tries too hard to please the audience at the detriment of it's integrity. At it's worst, Hope manifests as propaganda, changing and reinforcing worldviews with an underlying agenda, very manipulative. Rage is every time a story makes you feel "bad", be it the tragedy inflicted upon characters, or the breaking of immersion, or even more impactfully: when a narrative directly offends you or makes you doubt your own worldview, because Rage is quite inflammatory. At it's most vulgar, Hope is sexual and erotic content while Rage is violent and bloody content, both extreme and grotesque manifestations of these aspects may label something NSFW.

I like to see the Active vs Passive classes in terms of whether you assert your will upon your aspect or your aspect manifests it's nature through you. Active classes tend to start with either a lot or too little of their aspect, with limited personal power, and their growth involves attaining power and autonomy, turning an unmovable object into an unstoppable force. Passive classes on the other hand start out with innate connection to their aspect, and must learn to attune and harmonize with it , turning an unstoppable force into an unmovable object. As such, both groups of classes are two sides of the same coin: the balance and struggle between the gods (aspects) and mortals (heroes) But "rising" into their aspect is only one half of the journey, the other half is to not "fall". For (-) classes, the lesson to learn is restraint, respect and humility, to not use their immense power reckless and get a backlash for it. For (+) classes is to learn when to stop going with the flow and assert their will, else their own desires and ideas get outshined by the will of others or the inertia of their aspect. Failed actives get shot down for their hubris, while failed passives fade away into irrelevance.

I like how i expected to hear fucked up shit, but in a shallow thoughtless way and its like ye, its exactly what i got, but artistically way better since the parallels with Utena it explains itself way more literally. (And i feel reality slapped in the face 😂) Even tho i always had underlying hatred of themes presented in SU, i realised i was supposed to feel them same way as in Utena where its explained more literally. Childish, innocent manipulation screwed and contorted and changed for their own goals. The themes are really way over peoples heads who expect to watch kids show and get confused why characters act the way they do. And it just being western Utena.
